Bicycle Riding: How To Minimize The Risk Of Getting Injured

No matter how careful you are, sometimes accidents do happen. This is especially true with cycling. Oftentimes you ride through dangerous terrains or share the road with motorists. It's important to maintain your safety at all times. And that's why you should wear protective gears and abide by certain safe bike riding essentials.

Protective gears are not designed to eliminate accidents or injuries. However, they can lessen the gravity of getting injured should you crash or fall off your vehicle. Wearing Pearl Izumi shorts, top and applying sunscreen aren't enough. While they're also necessary, still protective gears should be worn together with them.

A helmet is very important for protecting your head from getting severe injuries. According to studies, helmets reduce head injuries by as much as 60 percent in the event of a crash. But don't wear just about any helmet. Wear something that's specifically manufactured for riding a bike. Look for a label or sticker that says it passed tests and meets standards.

Other protective gears include a pair of shatter-proof eye goggles and gloves. Depending on how you will use your bike, such as in cases of extreme riding, you may need to wear additional gears. There are elbow pads, knee pads and shin guards available. There are also shoes exclusive for cycling, to provide utmost comfort and safety as well.

Sometimes, the Schwinn mountain bike, BMX or other bicycle models you buy don't come accessorized completely. When riding your vehicle at night, it's important to have both head and rear lights installed. The same is true with reflectors to make sure other motorists can spot you. Mirrors and horns are great additions as well.

Aside from wearing protective gears, knowing certain road rules will add to your safety when taking your bicycle out. See to it that you ride in a straight line and always use hand signals when turning or stopping. Behave like you're also riding a car and drive defensively. Sometimes, common sense is important, such as avoiding busy roads for your own good.

Having a personal trainer is essential if you're planning on becoming a professional cyclist. He or she will coach you the right way, each time your skill level advances. However, it's not constantly that there's someone to guide you while riding. Putting on proper protective gears and abiding by road rules will help minimize your risk of getting in an accident or injured.

me and my friends were hanging out today and?

ok so i was hanging out with my friends just going for some runs doing parkour and i saw this sick gap so i tried to jump it and land on this rail so i wa going to jump and when i jumped i hered this lady yell at me and my friends

and she was yelling abut how her kids watching us and saying what we were doing was cool and she didn't like it. than she was whining about us not wearing safety gear (helmets, elbow pads ect ) and talking about how we were setting a bad example to her kids and we could make her kids copy us and stuff ike that

what is that ladies problem
to the first answerer

parkour is about getting from point A to point B as efficiantly as possible

safety gear like helmets might slow us down

First of all, parkour and free-running, as sick as it may be, has to be the most dumbest sport to get involved in, especially if you are some amateur trying to re-enact some YouTube videos.

Just don't worry. If she isn't your mom she can't stop you guys, but I advise you just move. Even more-so since there are so many other places to free-run in an urban area...

...and besides, if I wanted to get somewhere "effeciently as possible", I probably would've hitched a ride, taken a bus, rode my bike, or just walked because if you ask me, putting myself in more physical danger than the said isn't "getting from point A to point B as **EFFICIENTLY** (starred and capitolized because it's a key word) as possible"
